He has worked with the civil engineering group for 13 years and has been leading the civil engineering group for the past nine years. His experience includes a wide array of working on projects spanning the globe as well as projects in his hometown. Tim has enjoyed the great variety of projects and cherishes all the relationships that he has made throughout the years.

First Wisconsin DOT Design-Build Bridge Project

Demolition of final section of old Rock River Bridge over the main Wisconsin River channel

MADISON, WI / Oneida Engineering Solutions (OES) and the WisDOT team oversee the demolition efforts for the final section of a former bridge spanning the Wisconsin River.

This $37 million project marks the first-ever WisDOT design-build bridge construction and involves the realignment of State Trunk Highway (STH) 130 across two channels of the Wisconsin River.

Work since November, and upcoming work, includes continued bridge demolition, the North River channel re-opening, a grading crew continuing to excavate the old roadway down island grade and hauling material off-site.

The project began in Fall 2022 and is on track for completion by Spring 2025.

Reducing Stormwater Overflows

OTIE’s West Roosevelt Drive Improvement Project

The Microtunnel Boring Machine (MTBM) has reached the receiving shaft, completing the second and final drive for this new 48-inch diameter sewer.
The construction contractor begins the process of breaking down their microtunneling operation.

Client and Project Location: MMSD; Milwaukee, WI

OTIE is currently lead designer on a Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) wastewater construction project in the Milwaukee area. The primary goal of the project is to reduce the risk of overflows in the immediate service area. The North 35th Street and West Roosevelt Drive intersection is one of the most active overflow areas, over the last 10 years, and the goal of reducing the excess wastewater level and recurrent flooding in the area is closer to its final goal.

Installation of the new 48-inch diameter MIS was recently completed! The new 48-inch diameter Metropolitan Interceptor Sewer (MIS) will redirect wastewater away from a bypass pump station (that will be removed as part of this project). The new 48-inch diameter sewer was installed by microtunneling, horizontally, over a distance of 3,100 linear feet and 90 feet below ground at its deepest point.

The construction contractor, Super Excavators of Menomonee Falls, WI, is now working on installing new manholes and will then connect the city sewers to the new MIS.

National STEM Day – November 8th / As a part of Palo Alto College’s (PAC) STEM Week Rene Cortez, PE, PG, SAME San Antonio Post President and PAC Alumnus was invited to deliver a presentation on STEM careers with a focus on Engineering. The November 5th speaking engagement was well attended by PAC students interested in pursuing STEM degrees and career. San Antonio Post’s Dick Kochanek, Harold Eberbach, and Rene met with dozens of PACs students and shared the benefits of a STEM career and SAME Student Membership.

OES-Pond JV II Facilitates Milestone Event

Cape Canaveral launch complexes in the 1960s, during first era of manned spaceflight

OES-Pond JV II was pleased to support and present at this year’s 2024 Space Launch Delta 45 Annual Forum for the 82-project $800 million “Spaceport of the Future” program.

The OES-Pond team provides program integration, program management, and planning services to support the focused effort of increasing Cape Canaveral’s space launch capacity and resiliency by the year 2028. Oneida Engineering Solution (OES)’s Jared Maline, Program Manager for The Advancement of Nextgen Operational Spaceports (THANOS), facilitated the half-day event with seventy-five participants from the federal government, local community, and industry.

The THANOS team also hosted partnering sessions with the goal of collecting working-level inputs on a range of issues, including recruiting labor and companies to work on Canaveral, and opportunities to improve the security screening process for the many contractors and deliveries needed to support the program.

First Wisconsin DOT Design-Build Bridge Project

MADISON, WI / Oneida Engineering Solutions (OES) is proud to be part of the WisDOT team overseeing the construction and demolition efforts for a multi-bridge project spanning the Wisconsin River.

In the background, you can see one of the two newly completed Wisconsin River bridges. The video was captured last week during the demolition of the old structures.

NAS Pensacola Receives New Instrument Landing System Infrastructure

Client and Project Location: NAVFACSE; Pensacola, FL

PENSACOLA, FL / A new instrument landing system (ILS) infrastructure has been installed in Florida. This project provided construction of the necessary infrastructure and site improvements to support replacement of the Instrument Landing System (ILS) equipment for Runway 07L at NAS Pensacola, FL.

Replacement of the existing ILS with a new generation of equipment will enhance the reliability and functionality of the instrument approach used for all weather operations for training and operational aircraft.

Mission Support Services (MS2) removed the legacy ILS equipment and antennas and demolished the existing concrete antenna foundations, equipment shelter pads, and supporting electrical service.

MS2 constructed new antenna foundations, equipment shelter pads, and access roads and provided new electrical and communication cables to the new glide slope and localizer antennas and equipment shelters and site equipment. This new installation included fiber optic cables, electrical distribution cables, grounding systems and lightning protection systems, electrical and communications manholes and duct banks. New backbone fiber optic cable was installed to connect to the Radar Air Traffic Control Facility (Building 3963) and Air Traffic Control Tower (Building 3962).

Services

  • Demolition and Construction at the two primary antenna sites: the glide slope antenna site and the localizer antenna site.
  • Site work: grading and drainage, new equipment pads, paved parking areas, grading and turf restoration.
  • Utility work: new underground electrical and telecommunications systems.

Challenges and solutions.

This project required work in close proximity to runways, taxiways, and runway end zones which required extreme care and coordinated scheduling around aircraft operating requirements.

Oneida ESC Group is excited to announce the City of Madison, WI Parks Division has awarded a construction contract to continue the Warner Park Community Recreation Center Expansion.

The expansion is expected to meet the needs for an increase in the demand for services and community event space.

USACE Japan Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Site

The OTIE-RS&H Joint Venture had the honor of participating as the designer of record in this groundbreaking ceremony at Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan.

We are also excited to see construction commence on this new 32,900 square foot facility that will provide vital operational skills training to the Seventh Fleet’s sailors, who operate ships in some of the world’s busiest and most congested sea-lanes. We, and our design partner Coffman Engineers, appreciate the opportunity to have partnered with project stakeholders from USACE Japan, NAVFAC Far East, CFA Yokosuka, and the Fleet to bring this unique design to completion.

She has managed large-scale AEC programs for both large and small AEC firms as well as the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and has directed numerous large, interdisciplinary engineering design teams. She most recently served as a member of the leadership team for the Port Authority, responsible for major cap projects totaling over $10B, including such iconic projects as the World Trade Center campus; the Perelman Performing Arts Center; and the Midtown Bus Terminal.
